Startup Scan, Services Scan, Shortcut Scan
When software is installed on your computer, either intentionally or without your knowledge, startup programs and services are often setup. A startup program is just what it sounds like: an application that starts automatically when you boot up your computer. Similarly, a service also runs when you start Windows, but typically with nothing visible to you. When one of these programs is removed or incorrectly setup, Windows may still try to start it, usually resulting in an error message when you turn on your computer. The startup scan and services scan looks at both of these locations in your computer and locates references to missing or incorrectly setup startup items and services. FalconSweep also includes a shortcut scan, which looks at all the shortcut / link files on your computer and identifies the shortcuts which point to programs that you don’t have any more so that they can be removed.
Dependency Scan
DLL files are an often misunderstood technology within Windows. DLL stands for Dynamic Link Library. In plain English, a DLL file provides added functionality for a program. When a DLL file is missing or of the incorrect version, you will usually receive an error message about a missing DLL file or missing DLL file export. These error messages can prevent a program from running because the program needs the DLL file to work properly. The FalconSweep dependency scanning engine looks at the programs on your computer for missing DLL file references. When one is found, FalconSweep will provide you with the information and tools necessary to obtain the correct DLL file and rectify the problem.
